Nurturing appreciation for nature and wildlife

Zoo Miami Camps are a stampede of fun!

Combining education with entertainment, your kids will enjoy learning about our animals, getting an introduction to environmental conservation, and building appreciation for wildlife. Camp activities include animal encounters, interactions with zookeepers, and plenty of physical playtime around the Zoo's "living classroom".

Week 1: April 10 - 14, 2017

Bugs, Butterflies and Birds
The birds are chirping and the bees are buzzing! Come dig in the garden dirt as we learn how plants grow and what pollinators do. Build a bird nest and find beautiful native butterflies as we explore the Zoo!

Mission Everglades!
Explore our newest exhibit focusing on our natural wonder right here in South Florida. Campers will learn about water conservation, take a crawl in the crocodile tube and meet some of our Everglades animal ambassadors up close and personal!

Solar Story
Learn about solar energy and how important our sun is to all life on our planet! Campers will meet animals that live in some of the most extreme habitats in the world, deserts! Discover what adaptations animals must have to survive under the blazing sun.

Finding Frogs
Jump into the pond as we learn all about amphibians! Campers will learn about our FrogWatch Citizen Science program that teaches you how to identify frog calls right in your own backyard! Science made fun with our favorite little green friends!

Egg-cellent Animals
Get into the springtime fever as we learn all about the animal life cycle. We will meet some adorable baby animals, and go on an egg hunt with special animal surprises inside!

Week 2: April 17 - 21, 2017

Flower Power
The flowers are in bloom this spring! Campers will explore the parts of a plant, learn about growing our own vegetables in our garden and find some beautiful butterflies around the Zoo! Find out what animals love to eat just their greens!

Awesome Alligators
Go into our newest exhibit, Florida: Mission Everglades and make a new friend with our alligators and other friends that call these wetlands home. Learn about water conservation and what you can do to help restore this precious ecosystem right here in our backyard.

Climate Kids
Learn what is making our planet heat up and meet the animals most affected by these changes. Have fun while exploring ways to reduce your carbon footprint!

Fun in the Field
Become scientists for the day as we learn about field work and put our skills to the test! Observe our animals, collect samples and dive into a bug hunt as we document the different species we find around the Zoo!

Baby Buddies
Who doesn’t love baby animals? Our campers will get an up close look at whose being born around the Zoo this spring! Learn about the life cycle and meet the cutest members of our Zoo collection.

 

 

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Morning and afternoon snacks provided. Campers must bring their own lunches with beverages from home. Programs are subject to change.

 

Tab Four
Mini Camp

During Teacher Planning Days, children will get up close with Zoo Miami's animals while learning about conservation issues. These one-day camps will be filled with fun indoor and outdoor activities in a safe and nuturing environment.

Mon, Jan 16: Buggin’ Out
Get your magnifying glass ready as we explore the world of bugs! Find out what a big impact these tiny species have on our plant! Meet the animals of the Zoo that love to grub on some bugs and then go on an insect hunt to see what little friends we can find hiding around the Zoo!

Mon, Jan 23: Plant Power
This camp day we will be getting our hands dirty as we dig up ways to grow our own food. We will investigate the power of plants and be surprised by which animals at the Zoo thrive off eating only their greens!

Mon, Feb 20: Water Watch
Learn about saving one of the most precious resources on our planet, water! Find out which animals are most affected by water shortages and fun ways to help conserve water.

Fri, March 24: Global Fever
Learn what is making our planet heat up and meet the animals most affected by these changes. Have fun while exploring ways to reduce your carbon footprint!
