In July 2018 Zoo Miami partnered with the APPC (Pan American Conservation Association) to bring two orphaned two-toed sloths back to Zoo Miami. The sloths, Chelsea and Pete, serve as ambassadors for their species when they accompany their keepers to meet our guests. The APPC works tirelessly to rescue and rehabilitate many different species of animals within Panama. Since 2005 they have rescued and relocated more than 4,500 wild animals, returning more than 80% of them to their natural habitat.
