Clyde the chimpanzee lived in a cage in an Ohio garage for 45 years. Radcliffe spent a portion of his life in a small roadside attraction. Katie was kept as an indoor pet in a tiny cage in New Jersey. Patti Ragan found the Center for Great Apes in 1993 to be sanctuary for chimpanzees and orangutans where “chimps can be chimps” and “orangutans can be orangutans.” The exotic pet trade is a serious issue in South Florida as many people buy “pets” that are not meant to be pets such as primates. Hear the stories of these animals as Patti shares the dangers of the exotic pet trade and how we can make better choices to support primate conservation.
Ticket includes $5.00 voucher for food/drink at Zoo Miami’s indoor Nourish305 restaurant. Come in to grab a bite before hearing these wild tales! Restaurant open from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. with animal encounters occurring from 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the entry plaza.
