Sarita Turns 2!

April 23, 2001, is the 2nd birthday of “Sarita,” our historic Greater One-Horned Rhino!!  For those of you who may not remember, Sarita made history when she was the first ever Greater One-Horned Rhino that was born as a result of induced ovulation combined with artificial insemination!  As you will see by the attached image of her next to her mom, she has grown immensely and is close to mom in size!

I captured some images of her enjoying some treats that were made for her by her keepers that included a huge frozen “fruitsicle” made with orange Gatorade and filled with a variety of fruits and vegetables.  In addition, she was given a beautiful custom cake made in the Milton Fun Factory filled with treats and two candles made of celery sticks and sweet potatoes for the flames!

Though she thoroughly enjoyed her massive “fruitsicle,” she was a bit wary of the cake!  However, mom, “Akuti,” soon came in and destroyed it while enjoying the treats that were hidden inside of it!

I hope these images bring a smile to your face and that you all have a wonderful day!
