Zoo Camps

Zoo Miami Camps are a stampede of fun!

Our award-winning camps combine education with entertainment where your kids will enjoy learning about wildlife, getting an introduction to environmental conservation, and making new friends. For the second year in a row Zoo Miami Camp has been recognized as the best in South Florida!

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Morning and afternoon snacks provided. Campers must bring their own lunches with beverages from home. Programs are subject to change.

Jr. Zookeeper Camp

June 24-28, July 8-12, July 22-26, Aug 5-9

Ages 11-15
8:30am - 4:30pm
(Free aftercare until 5:30 pm)

 

Campers will be fully emerged into the world of animal science as they work alongside our very own zookeepers.  See if you have what it takes to pursue this very challenging yet rewarding career path. Don’t worry, it won’t be all work and no play! Campers will also get a chance to meet our animal ambassadors behind the scenes and have plenty of time for fun around the zoo! 

Summer Camp

Week 1 (Jun 10- 14) & 6 (July 15-19): Zooperhero's

The power of strength, flight, sonar and more in superhero’s is inspired by the animal kingdom.  Chameleons that are almost invisible as they change color to match their surroundings. Elephants that have the strength to knock down trees!  What other “superpowers” do animals have?


Week 2 (Jun 17-21) & 7 (July 22-26): Zoo Crew

Dive into the great outdoors as campers discover all of the natural wonder we have right here in our own backyard! Campers will have plenty of nature play opportunities going on bug hunts, making natural crafts and planting in our native butterfly garden! Meet some of our native animals up-close and make friends while getting lost in the wilderness!


Week 3 (June 24-28) & 8 (July 29-Aug 2): Lights,Camera, & Action

Let’s follow Ron Magill footsteps as an animal ambassador! What is your favorite animal? What can you do to save it from extinction? Grow into an eco-warrior with us giving our animal ambassadors a voice. 


Week 4 (Jul 1-5)* & 9 (Aug 5-9): Habitat Kings

All habitats have a “king” whether it’s in the rainforests, savannas, wetlands, deserts, and more.  Find out why these “kings” are at the top of the chain and how all species are connected.

Week 5 (Jul 8-12) & 10 (Aug 12-16): Tall Tales

From camels storing water in their humps to porcupines shooting quills. We have all heard some crazy myths about animals. Together we will uncover fact from fiction as we become Mythbusters conducting our own experiments!

 

 

Mariana Rosales Zoo Camp Scholarship

Calling all families with kids 4-10 years of age!  Does your child love animals and want to go to Zoo Camp?  The Zoo Miami Foundation is awarding the Mariana Rosales Zoo Camp Scholarship which includes a free week of Zoo Camp and lunch for 1 child during the summer.

All your child has to do is write and submit a 2 paragraph minimum essay to the Zoo Miami Foundation answering the following question: 

“What is your favorite animal and why?”

All entries must include contestant name, contestant age, and parent/guardian contact information.  Entries can be turned into the Zoo Miami Foundation via mail or education@zoomiami.org by May 15th.

This opportunity is provided by Mariana Rosales, a zookeeper at Zoo Miami, who won a camp scholarship as a 2nd grader and wanted to provide the opportunity to another child.

April 19 - Lights, Camera, Action!

Have you wanted to be Ron Magill? Campers will go around the zoo on a fact finding mission learning what it’s like to be a zoo ambassador for the day!

May 27 - Zooperheros

Ever wanted to jump like a Kangaroo or run like the cheetah? Let’s put your skills to the test! What’s your zooper strength? 

 

Camp Meal Plan

We are now offering a packed lunch provided by Zoo Miami's Taste of the Wild catering service! Meal Plan includes a main dish, two sides, and a drink.

Camp Adopt-an-Animal

Bring home all the fun of Camp and support the Zoo's wildlife enrichment by adopting an animal! Each day will feature a different animal based on the week's activities. Discounted package includes plush animal, certificate of adoption, fact sheet, and animal photo by Ron Magill that will be sent home with your child at the end of the day.
